The project stems from initial conversations about boundaries and divisions. The space has been arranged to reflect this. Two artists working together on building a significant division into the Volume space. The space becomes divided into a central cell and a peripheral walkway or frame. A 3 metre by 3 metre box starting out as an ‘open wall’. The activities are generated progressively over a week. The artists separating themselves from each other with semi-collaborative, semi-solo works. Over one week in the volume space the artists Sam Hasler and Jason Pinder will be sawing and drawing, writing and talking and making physical interventions in dialogue with each other and with the space.
We already talk about many things and we still don’t know what each other are expecting from this project. We’ve been talking about:
The man on the inside – the snitch, the grass.
Affluent disaffected youth culture.
Emotional detachment.
Misunderstandings.
Meaninglessness .
Performance.
Architecture.
Being active.
Futility.
Shifts.
Work.
Graft...
...the dialogue continues and will start to become physical things in the volume space soon.
